One Special Guy
by:Cadet Ericksen
My life was a bumpy trail,
not once was it one smooth rail.
Always putting me down in all directions,
but no one else has this man’s perception.
He was always there to lead the way.
When I still couldn’t do it,
he was there to pray.
We would teach us one person from another.
He was like no friend, counselor, nor brother.
This man was like a god, powerful and strong.
Taught us advice and never was he wrong.
I followed his steps all the way to the very top.
Until one day all of my steps
just came to a stop.
I was in shock, quiet and calm.
I didn’t know what to do.
So I thought to myself all day long.
I asked myself this question.
Why? Why him? Why now?
What am I going to do if everything’s
always putting me down?
I know what I’ll do, I will be brave and strong,
think of his advice and remember
never was he wrong.
But now I hate myself for not telling him
good-bye.
I know what I can do,
I can salute the flag every day,
and every night. |

"Dick was truly a great husband, father, and soldier. He made all of us proud. He was sincere and comitted in everything he did. He gave 110 percent in everything that came his way.Thank all of you for enriching Dick's life. You added fulfillment to his life. He cared so much for each of you. All of you are family to him, and are family to all of us. So please keep in touch and keep us in your prayers."
"Thanks Charlie Company for accepting me."
